Two online journal editors in the fields of Instructional Design and Online Learning will delve into considerations for publication of articles, what we look for in the initial reads, and why an article might be accepted (or rejected) for further review.
We hope that the audience will:
· Discuss opportunities for publishing scholarly articles in online journals. · Identify effective strategies for writing and submitting manuscripts for publication in scholarly journals. · Explore various online scholarly journals and their attributes.

Dr. Jennifer Summerville

Jennifer Summerville, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Instructional Design at National University. From 2022 to present, she served as Discipline Lead in Instructional Design. From 2017 to 2022 she served in the same capacities for Northcentral University, which was acquired by National University. She teaches courses in Instructional Design and Research Methods, but her main teaching load is as Dissertation Chair. Her research interests are in Instructional Design for online learning.

Dr. Maggie Broderick

Dr. Maggie Broderick is an Associate Professor at National University, where she serves as a Dissertation Chair and as a Faculty Lead for Social Emotional Learning and Curriculum and Instruction. She is also the Director of NU’s Advanced Research Center and the Editor of the Journal of Online Graduate Education. Maggie is an active scholar, presenting at many conferences and publishing book chapters and journal articles, often in collaboration with colleagues and former students. She also serves as a scholarly peer reviewer, a content expert writing curriculum, and a provider of professional development activities. Dr. Broderick received her Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education at the University of Pittsburgh and her BS (Music Education) and MS (Education) degrees at Duquesne University. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of Education, including 8 years of teaching experience in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and additional PK-12 and higher education teaching experience in various teaching contexts. Dr. Broderick lives in Pittsburgh, PA, with her family and is passionate about teaching and learning at all levels.
