Short Abstract
Leadership requires a set of multifaceted skills and competencies, ranging across self-awareness, adaptability, learning agility, entrepreneurial leadership, collaboration, and network thinking. Join us as we explore how you can develop digital leadership competencies no matter your job title or career aspirations.
Extended Abstract
Developing these competencies can help leaders at every level thrive in today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape. Participants will walk away with actionable strategies to enhance their leadership effectiveness and expand their professional networks globally.
In today’s dynamic higher education environment, leaders must possess a wide range of competencies to drive digital learning initiatives forward. This session will explore how leaders can develop and demonstrate key digital leadership competencies in their institutions, communities, and in OLC’s leadership offerings.
Participants will begin with self-awareness by critically examining personal leadership styles. We will then discuss adaptability and agility, particularly in the face of change and the evolving role of higher education in society and a hyper-competitive marketplace. Relatedly, participants will consider entrepreneurial leadership and collaboration, equally critical to recognizing strategic opportunities within their institutions. Finally, participants will leave with a solid foundation in network thinking, enabling them to expand their professional networks on a national and global scale.
Takeaways for Participants:
Learn how to apply self-awareness and adaptability to lead digital learning initiatives at your institution.
Gain practical insights into improving collaboration and strategic thinking.
Understand how to leverage entrepreneurial leadership to identify and act on institutional opportunities.
Expand your leadership network by connecting with peers in digital learning.
Engagement will take place through breakout discussions to share experiences of leadership challenges and successes in digital learning. We'll also integrate small-group exercises that apply collaboration and entrepreneurial leadership strategies to real-world scenarios. Finally, there will be opportunities for networking with colleagues across institutions to model network thinking in practice.
