Short Abstract
Many institutions have started to implement a badging or micro-credential program for faculty development, but how do we make badges meaningful and more than digital stickers? In this session, we will discuss how we have implemented badging to connect our workshop curriculum and create deeper connections.
Extended Abstract
Badges, or micro-credentials, are becoming increasingly common at institutions, but many are merely awarded for attendance, resembling “digital stickers.” While low-level badges have their place, they can offer much more. In this session, we’ll share how we enhanced our badging program by focusing on overarching curriculum themes, such as Creating Instructional Media, Active Learning with Technology, and Digital Assessments and Assignments.
We’ll explore the design of our badging curriculum, its implementation in Credly, the impact on workshop planning and scheduling, program successes, areas for improvement, and other ways we're exploring badges for faculty development. Participants will leave with actionable ideas to implement or improve badging at their institutions.
