Short Abstract
Students may be taught about AI as it relates to an academic context, but how can faculty prepare students for AI in the workplace? This session offers a collaborative discussion about how to define and introduce the ethics of AI in both contexts to students.
Extended Abstract
This session will begin with an open discussion of ethical versus unethical uses of AI in these two contexts, as well as how to teach students the ethics of AI in both contexts. The discussion will move to the creation of a collaborative Google Document with the following sections: ethical uses of AI in academic coursework, unethical (or problematic) uses of AI in academic coursework, ethical uses of AI in the workplace, unethical (or problematic) uses of AI in the workplace, and best practices for faculty who want to teach the ethics of AI to students in these two contexts. The session will end with an open discussion (that is reflected on the Google Doc) about faculty concerns about teaching and discussing the ethics of AI in these contexts.
