This session will explore how educators can leverage generative AI tools to quickly develop open materials such as handouts, quiz banks, and even full textbooks. Attendees will learn how to write practical prompts, and create content that is ethical, inclusive, and aligned with learning goals. 

Creating high-quality, adaptable open resources can take significant time, expertise, and creative energy, resources many educators and instructional designers are already short on. This session will empower attendees to leverage generative AI tools to author open content and help faculty streamline the creation of handouts, assessments, and even full textbooks for online learning environments.

Designed with a focus on practical strategies, this session will introduce time-saving techniques and sample prompts for using AI to draft, revise, and align instructional materials with course outcomes and accessibility standards. We’ll also explore how these tools can assist educators in maintaining quality control, applying Creative Commons licenses, and ensuring that their open materials remain inclusive, accurate, and adaptable.

At its core, this session is about empowering educators to do more with less—less time, less funding, fewer barriers. AI does not replace instructional expertise; it enhances it.
