BSI is a cybersecurity company that eliminates cheating, identity theft, and fraud. Instead of typing your password, students create a written biometric password with a finger or mouse. The technology analyzes passwords and how they are written (length, speed, order, angles etc.). If a user does not authenticate successfully against the original template, they cannot access the course or assessments, so work-for-hire cheating is “prevented”. Most of our clients use no proctoring and choose BioSig-ID to solve academic integrity issues. BioSig-ID authenticates the student throughout the course and is available for all graded assessments, not just exams.
BioSig-ID has caught/stopped thousands of cheaters over the past few years, including a published use case of 600 students in multiple states who paid contract cheaters to do their work. BSI provides ID authentication gating before remote access in higher education, defense, real estate, the mortgage industry, and commercial schools. Over 100M uses from 154 countries.
Detecting and reporting student contract cheating is crucial for maintaining academic integrity. BioSig-ID has developed a new report because educators must be vigilant in identifying patterns that point to contract cheating. This report, called “Launch & Leave”, provides a list of students accessing the course material, encountering the BioSig-ID validation point, and then abruptly leaving without further activity. The list can be configured based on IP addresses, country changes, OS/Browser changes, and other options, resulting in a detailed list of potential work-for-hire cheaters who chose not to proceed once they realized they must engage with BioSig-ID.
Preliminary results show an average range of 10-13% deterrence in potential cheating activities. Nothing is absolute about this data, as there are other reasons why there might be a "Launch & Leave", but research shows that this activity is going on in what BioSig-ID is calling the "Underground Cheating Economy". The report collects information on both the student and the person who is a potential cheater. Armed with this new, game-changing data, schools can begin a campaign of educating their students on the merits of doing their own work to protect the value of the institution and their degree.
Rounding out the BSI offerings is BioSight-ID – a web monitoring tool for high-stakes exams. What sets BioSight-ID apart from other proctoring tools is the use of “Face Anonymization”. Privacy is a huge issue for students. Hundreds of schools and over 300,000 students have signed petitions to have their schools drop the use of proctoring tools since they do not respect student privacy. BioSight-ID blurs the student face to protect their privacy and does not require room scans, PC takeovers, pictures of driver’s license etc. Our technology uses secure BioSig-ID to authenticate identity before monitoring begins.
The new proposed Department of Education regulations require enhanced attendance taking distance education courses (or Regular and Substantive Interaction). BSI complies with this proposal because “BioSig-ID qualifies as participating in an interactive tutorial, webinar, or other interactive computer-assisted instruction”. Ready-made reports that detail attendance times and the last-day-of-course-activity are currently available, saving faculty time and increasing the accuracy of financial reimbursement.
BSI technology comes with a full suite of forensic tools (managed services) and a dedicated subject matter expert who will prepare and guide you through academic integrity issues. This service includes monthly meetings, prepared reports, assistance with policies, access to template action letters and certain measurement tools that review your school’s integrity risk scores for contract cheaters. Accreditation agencies appreciate it when schools use our measurement tools to ensure compliance with federal regulations for student ID authentication and privacy sparring technology (regulation 602.17 section g and h).
Rugged independent testing was done on our patented algorithms. Our ability to stop imposters was 99.97% effective which is 3 fold greater level than standards set by the National Institute for Standards and Technology for biometrics. We also found that 46% of first-time users found that using BioSig-ID was “Entertaining”. Ten years ago, we launched a “Try to Spoof the password MOM” contest on our website and win $500.00. Over 26,000 people have tried from multiple countries, and NO ONE has been able to replicate this written password. To join the spoof contest select the link below
