Discover new gems to add to your online teaching and personal treasury. With this give one/get one activity, share your favorite professional and leisure-reading publications (books, articles, podcasts, websites) as you exchange titles, business cards, and pearls with fellow conference attendees.

After being introduced to the activity, participants will be given a card with blanks for documenting their contact information and 1 professional publication (book, journal article, podcast, website) they’ve found useful in supporting their online teaching and learning journey. They will also be asked to identify 1 recreational reading / watching / listening publication (not necessarily related to online teaching and learning) that has impacted their life (meaningful, guilty pleasure, off-beat / unusual). Participants will copy this card for a total of 6 cards that can be exchanged by mixing and mingling with fellow activity participants with one card given to the activity organizer who can share the collected titles with participants following the event. Cards will include a pearl / bead so that a keepsake charm can be created through the exchange of publications, serving as a reminder of the event and the network participants have begun to craft. During the exchange, participants will share one insight from either the professional or leisure reading publication – why they chose it, an “a-ha” moment of learning, a favorite quote – as they trade cards. After 5-7 minutes, participants will be prompted to move on to share with other attendees. Mixing continues until all copies of the cards have been exchanged, representing an individual has participated in a shared experience with others. Goals Participants will make connections with at least five individuals outside of their own institution, contributing to the growth of their personal resource network. Participants will be able to identify at least two new books, publications, podcasts, or websites relevant to professional and personal interests. Participants will create a commemorative charm that serves as a reminder of the experience, connections made, and information gathered.
