Drawing insights from Drive Toward a Degree, a survey of ~1300 student support providers and ~300 administrators across 800+ higher education institutions, this session aims to explore how data and technology can enhance the integration of student success functions within institutions and empower learners in online learning.
Higher education is more digitized than ever after the COVID-19 pandemic. Student success functions, a critical part of the higher education experience, have evolved service delivery formats to be more flexible with addressing student needs. Digital co-location, the degree of which students can access supports online through a single student portal, is critical to ensuring equitable access to student supports and enhancing holistic advising. The session will open up with the reveal of how support services are organized today, through the lens of digital co-location, then dive into a discussion around the importance of ensuring seamless student access to advising resources digitally, notable its impact on empowering students’ awareness, access, and utilization of student support services. In addition to highlighting findings from Drive Toward a Degree, one of the most comprehensive research studies on student success in higher education, the session will capture perspectives from subject matter experts ranging from institutional leadership to technology providers, so session participants can expect actionable strategies for optimizing integration and service delivery in an increasingly digital higher education environment. Participants will: - Identify strategies and best practices to improve the awareness, reach, and effectiveness of student support services - Explore effective practices in student support coordination and their impact on holistic advising - Learn about ways to unlock the power of data to enhance advising within digital learning environments
