In this discovery session, we will share our experience developing an adaptive staffing model at a multi-site community college. We will focus on lessons learned from the launch of an online campus and the benefits of collaborative staffing approaches that foster an environment of excellence.
Online learning is now a staple at colleges and universities, and online courses contribute to a significant portion of the teaching load for many faculty. Catalyzed by the pandemic, online learning continues to expand in scope and demand, requiring modern institutions to meet their unique challenges with innovative solutions. In this discovery session, we will share our experience developing an adaptive staffing model at a multi-site community college with faculty teaching both face-to-face and online courses. We will emphasize the importance of a personalized approach and collaboration between administrators and faculty, discuss online course standards, and highlight professional development benchmarks for full-time and adjunct instructors. Finally, we will examine the challenges faced by staff and administrators, who must balance these considerations to foster an environment of academic excellence and dynamic partnerships. In this discovery session, participants will have a chance to engage one-on-one to learn more about the key features of our staffing model. We hope to share lessons from the launch of a successful online campus at a multi-site community college and learn from others who have tackled similar challenges. Session attendees are encouraged to explore a proven approach to online scheduling and collaborate with peers to refine and adapt this process to suit their institutional needs. Attendees will leave empowered with strategies they can use to benefit their own institutions.
