The UF Online team will share what we've learned about online students' needs - and how we have learned to ask better questions to really explore those needs (and ensure we are meeting them). Participants can download a Qualtrics template to adapt to your own student feedback and belonging initiatives.
Extended Abstract
Online students face unique challenges and their needs may not be the same as residential students – in fact, their needs may be completely different and not at all what educators assume! Since 2019, UF Online has been conducting an annual Student Experience Survey for online undergraduates which has evolved and changed over time as we have listened to students and learned to understand their needs, and their sense of belonging, better. In this session, we will share not only some of the things we have learned about the needs of online undergraduate students, but also how we have learned to ask better questions to really explore those needs (and ensure we are meeting them) in order to foster a stronger sense of belonging. We will also share a downloadable Qualtrics template and document of our survey protocol that can be adapted to your institution as you seek feedback from your own online students.
